Materials

  • White coffee filters (easy to find in most kitchens)
  • Liquid food coloring or dye (vibrant colors will bring your flowers to life)
  • Small cups or containers for mixing colors
  • Water (just enough to mix with dye)
  • A spray bottle (for added texture)
  • Pipe cleaners (for stems)
  • Small sponge or soft brush (optional for applying dye)
  • Newspaper or paper towels (to protect your workspace)

Instructions

  • Begin by preparing your workspace. Lay down newspaper to catch any spills and create a comfortable area to work.
  • Take several coffee filters and stack them, then pinch them in the center to form a flower shape. Adjust the ruffles as needed to achieve the desired look.
  • In small cups, mix a few drops of liquid food coloring with a bit of water. Adjust the color intensity to your liking.
  • Using a brush or sponge, gently apply the dye to the edges of the filters, allowing the colors to blend beautifully.
  • If you prefer, use a spray bottle filled with water to mist the filters lightly after applying dye; this will allow the colors to spread and bloom softly.
  • Leave your dyed filters to dry flat on a clean surface, away from direct sunlight.
  • Once dry, take a pipe cleaner and twist it around the center of the filters to create the flower's stem. Shape the petals as you like.
  • For an added touch, consider creating a bouquet by repeating the process with different colors and patterns.
