Materials

  • Glow-in-the-dark paint (easy to find at craft stores)
  • Craft foam sheets in various colors
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun (with adult supervision)
  • Googly eyes
  • Optional: glitter for extra flair

Instructions

  • Prepare Your Foam: Start by cutting the foam sheets into bug shapes. Think about beetles, butterflies, or other whimsical creatures that spark your imagination. Feel the smooth texture of the foam as you work.
  • Paint with Glow-in-the-Dark: Apply the glow-in-the-dark paint to one side of each foam shape. This will be the area that shines when the lights are low. As you paint, notice the soft brush strokes gliding on the surface.
  • Allow to Dry: Set the painted shapes aside to dry completely. This is a wonderful time to reflect on your crafting space, breathing in the creativity around you.
  • Assemble Your Bugs: Once dry, use a hot glue gun to attach googly eyes and any other decorative elements. Add a dab of glue to feel the warmth and texture as you bring your bugs to life.
  • Make Them Glow: To activate the glow-in-the-dark paint, expose your creations to light for a little while. Then, switch off the lights and enjoy the enchanting glow that fills the room.
