Materials

  • 1 pack Colored tissue paper Choose vibrant colors like blue, orange, and yellow.
  • 1 unit Balloon Inflated to desired size.
  • 1/2 cup Liquid school glue Mixed with water for adhesive.
  • 1/2 cup Water Used to thin the glue.
  • 1 small bowl A small bowl For mixing glue and water.
  • 1 unit Battery-operated tea light For safe illumination inside the lantern.
  • 1 pair Scissors For cutting the tissue paper.
  • 1 unit Paintbrush For applying glue to the tissue paper.
  • 1 workspace A workspace covered with newspaper For easy cleanup.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Inflate the balloon to your desired size, tie it securely, and place it on your workspace.
  • In a small bowl, mix equal parts liquid school glue and water to create your adhesive for the tissue paper.
  • Cut or tear the colored tissue paper into small squares.

Application

  • Using the paintbrush, dip it into the glue mixture and smooth one tissue paper square onto the balloon.
  • Repeat this process, overlapping each piece slightly until the balloon is covered.

Drying & Finishing

  • Allow the decorated balloon to dry completely, typically taking a few hours.
  • Carefully pop the balloon and remove it from the tissue paper shell.
  • Place the battery-operated tea light inside the lantern.
  • Find a cozy spot in your home to showcase your glowing fish lantern.
