Materials
- Cotton balls (easy to find)
- Water beads (you might enjoy reading more about edible water beads)
- Balloons (any color you prefer)
- Scissors (for cutting the balloon)
- A funnel (optional, but helpful)
- Bowls for soaking water beads (shallow works best)
Instructions
- Start by soaking your water beads according to the package instructions. Enjoy watching them expand as they absorb water. This can take a couple of hours.
- Once the beads are ready, take a balloon and carefully stretch the opening. This will be your squishy’s outer layer.
- Using a funnel, pour a few water beads into the balloon. You can adjust the amount depending on how squishy you'd like it to be.
- Next, add several cotton balls into the balloon, layering them with the water beads. The cotton will provide a soft, fluffy texture.
- Once filled to your liking, carefully tie off the balloon to seal the beads and cotton inside. Trim any excess balloon if necessary.
- As a calming finishing touch, gently squeeze and manipulate the squishy to help the cotton and beads settle inside. Notice the sensation and enjoy the tactile engagement.
