- Add a few drops of food coloring to the dissolved borax solution, mixing to create desired shades.
- Submerge the shaped pipe cleaners fully into the solution. Optionally tie string for easier retrieval.
- Allow the solution to sit undisturbed for several hours or overnight for crystal formation.
- After waiting, gently remove the pipe cleaners from the solution to reveal the colorful crystals.
- Let the creations dry on a paper towel or plate until the moisture evaporates and the final texture of the crystals is revealed.
