Materials
- 2 cups play sand (clean, dry, and fine)
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 cup dish soap (mild, like Dawn or Palmolive)
- Optional: few drops of food coloring or non-toxic paint
- Optional: essential oils (like lavender for calming sensory play)
- Optional: glitter or tiny toys/shells for extra fun
Instructions
- In a large bowl or tub, combine 2 cups of sand and 1 cup cornstarch. Stir well to distribute evenly.
- Slowly add 1⁄2 cup dish soap, mixing with a spoon or hands until the texture is doughy but slightly wet, like soft kinetic sand.
- Adjust texture if needed by adding more dish soap if too dry or more sand/cornstarch if too wet. For color, knead in food coloring or washable paint until evenly tinted.
- Pour into a play tray or sensory bin, adding cookie cutters, molds, or small plastic toys for interactive play.
