Materials

Materials Needed

  • 5 pieces Pipe cleaners To shape into starfish.
  • 1/2 cup Borax Facilitates crystal growth.
  • 2 cups Hot water To dissolve borax.
  • 1 piece Jar To hold the solution.
  • a few drops Blue food coloring To add color to crystals.
  • 2 pieces String For suspending the starfish.
  • 1 piece Pencil To suspend the string.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Shape the pipe cleaners into small starfish.
  • Dissolve the borax in hot water and add a few drops of blue food coloring.
  • Suspend the starfish in the solution overnight, ensuring they don't touch the jar sides.
  • In the morning, carefully remove them and let them dry.
