Materials

  • Balloons (easy to find in any store)
  • Baking soda
  • Vinegar
  • A plastic bottle
  • A funnel (optional, but helpful for pouring)
  • Measuring spoons
  • A small bowl or cup

Instructions

  • Start by placing a small amount of vinegar in the plastic bottle. Aim for about one-fourth full, allowing the reaction to unfold gracefully.
  • Measure one or two teaspoons of baking soda and place it in the balloon using a funnel. You can also do this carefully by hand, enjoying the soft feel of the baking soda as it slips through.
  • Stretch the opening of the balloon over the neck of the bottle, ensuring it fits snugly without spilling the baking soda inside.
  • Once secure, lift the balloon upright, allowing the baking soda to fall into the vinegar.
