Materials

  • 1 cup cornstarch (easy to find)
  • 2 cups water
  • A medium saucepan
  • A non-stick spray or wax paper
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Silicone molds or cookie cutters for shaping
  • A mixing spoon
  • A baking tray for drying

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the cornstarch and water over medium heat. Stir gently until the mixture thickens, resembling a smooth, pliable paste.
  • Once thickened, remove the saucepan from heat. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to achieve your desired hue, mixing until evenly distributed.
  • Lightly spray your silicone molds or cookie cutters with non-stick spray to ensure the mixture releases easily.
  • Spoon the cornstarch mixture into the molds, pressing down gently to eliminate air bubbles and achieve even shapes.
  • Allow the filled molds to cool for about 15 minutes, then carefully remove the shapes and place them on a baking tray lined with wax paper.
  • Let the shapes dry for at least 24 to 48 hours, until they harden fully. You can flip them halfway through for even drying.
  • Once dry, your cornstarch glass floral hearts and flowers are ready to be displayed or used in your home.
